Tamale Christmas

YUMMY! We sure do love our tamales...we had fun making them this year and Eli even got to help. Of course the boys made some and then went to watch TV while us ladies kept working hard. We had a tamale making factory going on in the house.



After a while we had so much left and not enough people...Kelly ended up becoming the tamale slave!




Mmmm...finally all Kelly's hard work paid off! (Just kidding, we all worked hard.) Eli approves! What a great day and a fun way to hang out. Plus we have dinner for the next month :)

Christmas Party!

Danny's new job had a big Christmas party this year. It included a cruse on a 62 foot boat (which I would call a yacht), in San Diego Bay at night. We had fun, the boat is his bosses "new" toy...it was only about a month old and all custom! The boat was beautiful and was followed up by dinner at the Bali Hai. We had a good time and it was nice to put faces to the names of Danny's new co-workers, and why lie, free food is always good! :)

Okay so my husband who very often gets board with his facial hair is taking on yet another look. Some say he looks like a deciple, others just a mountain man. However when he wear's this one hat he has he looks like a young Fiedel Castro, or maybe even Che? So you decide...which one is he?

Hey Everone!

I have some pictures from Thanksgiving that I want to post but for some reason my pictures won't upload. I tried yesterday and just thought it was the computer because it was running slow. So I tried again today and still nothing. I'm bummed, but I'm tring to fix it and hopefully there will be new informationa and pictures on Monday! Have a good weekend!

Our Thanksgiving!

We have many things to be thankful for this year! Danny and I have both been blessed with new jobs, all our traveling on the roads have been safe and we've had a house to come home to every time! We have amazing family and freinds who love us and lift us up in prayer, and a God who has taken care of all we need most times before we even think to ask! What more could we want? Thankfullness, what a wonderful way to being the holiday season...

As most of you know we visited family in Northern California for Thanksgiving...we left Wed. night and got to my parents 1/2 hour before Thurs. morning! What a drive, but we made it. We spent Thanksgiving over at Aunt Pat's house in Sacramento. I helped my mom cook dinner while admiring all the fall colors in my Aunt's back yard (she has some beautiful trees and she has a really neat garden!) We ate much like most of you, then opened some gifts sipped on hot apple cider and ate some more! It was nice just to be with family, that I'm most thankful for!

On Friday we braved the stores in Folsom! A group of us got together and the guys went one way and the girls another...Danny didn't have to be in a group of girls the whole time! That night we walked from my parents house to downtown Placerville and met up with some friends! They had the tree lighting cermony down there and there were bands and horse coach rides and all the stores were open late for people to browse around and enjoy the crisp night air. We sipped on tea's and coffee's and caught up with old friends.

The next day we spent at Apple Hill, or Camino, Ca the town I grew up in! That was fun, we got up early and got fresh apple doughnuts, apple fritters and coffee to keep warm. We had to use an ice scrapper on our car and it was even colder up the hill! A group of us walked around we took pictures looked at crafts got apple cider laughed talked and enjoyed the beauty! We met up with friends and just walked around and went to a few more apple farms. That evening we got together to play games with Mary, James and Katie. We hung out and got to see Mary and James' new place they call home.

On Sunday we let the boys sleep in and the girls (my mom, sister and myself) got up early to have breakfest together at Sweetie Pies! Ummmmm...then we went home, packed the car and Danny and I were off. We had got a book on tape from our friends and that did help the drive go much faster! We stopped at Danny's parents on the way down for a quick hi and dinner and now we're safely at home! Yeah for family, friends and cold weather! We're thankful to be home safe and sound but we miss you when we're not there!

Buttercup does get lot's of treats, walks and attention with my family and I'm sure that she misses that. She also had a run in with a deer and she likes to chase the squirels but hasn't been able to figure out how to climb the trees after them!

Best Husband Ever!

I had a wonderful birthday week! That's right week, I was teasing Danny about how I get a whole week, and he gave me a week. This week culminated in dinner with Kenny and Jen at Claim Jumpers. (We always go there because they have the best birthday deserts, and Jen's birthday is on the 25th so we all get good desert!) I thought that was the end, but it wasn't.
Danny had said we were going to play tennis on Saturday and have a picnic and hang out. We went to the park and I saw Carl. (One of our friends) I was surprised to see him, but they live close by and I thought they'd want to let the kids play. Then Rob, Tiffany, Victoria and Matthew show up and I realize it's a surprise birthday party!
We had to go to another park because that one was crowded, but once we were there Danny set up all the food that he and Jen had prepared! We had carne and pollo asada, chips and salsa, corn and chocolate cupcakes! We hung out and played volley ball, frisbee and I got to open presents!
I don't have any pictures (I didn't bring my camera, I didn't know I'd need it) but if any of you do you can send them to me! I had an amazing day and I was touched by everyone giving up their Saturday afternoon to hang out with us! Also all the others who helped him with different things like finding another park, getting the volley ball net and helping with food and ice chests and ice! Most of all I just amazed by all the work that Danny put into it, cordanaiting with everyone, cooking getting food and just putting that much effort into making my birthday special! Thanks Everyone!

Oh SO Sorry

It's been a long time since I 've been able to blog. Many things have happend since our trip some you may know and some you may not! Danny's job at DuPont ended on Oct. 6 and his new job at High Performance began on Oct. 9! God is good because for a while there it looked like we might have to move into Kenny and Jen's spare bedroom....well maybe not quite that bad. I also got a new job I now work as the Assistant to the Chief Flight Instructor at Rison Aviation! (A little joke for those of you who watch the Office.) Yes, that's right I work for Kenny...he's a good boss and I've only been fired twice so far. Danny likes his new job he's working on high end aircraft and he's the youngest one there by at least 10 years. He likes that though, he says he's been learning a lot from the guys over there and has even aquired a few nick names like Ace and Kid-O!

We've also been busy with the Miramar Airshow, we helped to sell Blue Yonder Girl stuff. Although it really sells itself! www.blueyoundergirl.com check it out! We spent the weekend just sitting in the rain...not really we spent the weekend watching the Blue Angles, The Oracle and many other planes fly. We did sell lot's of t-shirts and charms in the process! There was a night show to DIE for with a fire work show that made the 4th of July look weak and last but not least we saw the Wall Of Fire! Can't describe it just know there's you life pre wall of fire and your life post. You'll never be the same once you've seen it! Chapter Five:

The Great Northwest

Half an Half

For those of you who have traveled throught Washington may already know this. I, however have not, and to my great surprise much of Washington is dry and flat! I know, it's shocking, but true. I was crazy, I just thought of Wa. as this state that got tons of rain and must have trees and mountains everywhere. After all, it is the Evergreen State! Not to spoil it for those who haven't been, but if it's lush evergreen beauty you're longing for say on the western half of the state! It's funny, there's almost a line where the brown flatness ends and the mountianess beauty begins. I found the green part of Wa. breathtaking!

We arrived at Grandpa and Grandma Webb's early in the afternoon. There house is beautiful and there are so many things to look at. Each time you go into a room there is something new to discover!

We wanted to go hiking while we were there so Grandpa and Grandma took us to the most northwest point of the lower 48 states! Guess what, it rained-surprise, surprise!! It wasn't too mostly a drizzle--but it felt like we were in a rainforest. I loved every minute of the drive and hike. Grandma hung out and kept the car safe for us as Grandpa, Danny and I hiked. On our drive back we went past this beautiful lake that should have been named Emerald Lake because that was it's color.

The next day it time for me to cross something off my life list, going to Seattle! Aunt Kim came over and picked us up. I got to go on my very first ferry ride, AND we got to drive on to the ferry!! It was really exciting and the cool crisp air made you feel alive (and a little chilly). We went to Pike's Place Market, there were so many fresh things to buy it made me wish we were staying longer so we could have bought fruit and vegtables to cook with.

After lunch we went to the Space Needle, that was pretty cool! All day it had been overcast but as we made our way there the sun broke out and it cleared up quite nicely. The view was fabuless. We rode the ferry back, it's very relaxing and I think I'd like to ride a ferry to get to work. Although the niceness of it might wear off after some time.

The Really Cool Plane!

On Sunday after looking at camping across the hi-way from the train behind the gas station (you can only imagine the beauty at that campground:) we finally saw Camp Cocolalla. It was beatiful, on a small lake it's a year round camp and they need year round staff and that's not exctally what we're looking for...so after checking out the camp and saying goodbye to our friends we decided to check out the airport in Sandpoint.

We knew no one would be there on a Sunday afternoon, but we at least wanted to see it. We found the headquarters for Quest Air, one of the companies Danny was looking into. We ended up meeting a man who used to have a flight business in Alaska. He and his wife had just moved to the area. Long story short Danny ended up helping him with his plane. It was an awesome plane and we have some cool pictures with it.

After that we drove to Spokane, Wa and lucky us the KOA had a spot right next to, you guessed it a train!! What's a trip without a few funny memories. We were very tired and slept well that night but the train woke us up early so we got on the road to Silverdale!

Chapter Three:

McCall and Beyond

Drive, Drive Again!

Before spending the night at the camp, Danny and I got to spend the day in McCall. It was nice, kind of our first opportunity to hang out and really feel like we were on vacation!

As you can see McCall is a beautiful city on a lake, and we are told there's good hunting, fishing skiing/snowboarding, white water rafting...the list goes on and on!

The town is quaint, with a touch of tourism (okay, maybe more than a touch). We like that area, however finding a job might be difficult. (We would like to work at camps part-time to begin with, so we need jobs that will give us summers off, so maybe a ski resort?...)

After McCall we (Mary and I in the 4-Runner, Danny and James in the Honda!) drove, again. Driving looks different on paper than in real life! It wasn't all that bad, but it was a crazy trip. The new company kinda broke things up for us and was greatly appreciated, plus it's always good to see old friends! I think that most of the cities in N. Idaho are on lakes.

Sandpoint is no exception. In fact the camp we looked at there was also on a lake. It is in the city of Cocolalla, on Lake Cocolalla and it's called, you guessed it Camp Cocolalla! (It's really fun to say Cocolalla, it seems like Dr. Suess named it--I actually believe it's Native American)

Camp Cocolalla is on about 11 acres, they have a big waterslide into the lake, a fort and a gym! They are a year-round camp, and it seems very busy. It's also in one of the prettiest settings I've ever seen.

Chapter Two:

Finally Sleep!

The Beautiful Drive.

After 23+hrs of driving, we finally stopped by the Payette River at the Swinging Bridge Campground. Rest! Danny decided that we only needed our backpacking tent (he remembered it being larger:), but we brought our big sleeping mats! Needless to say we were very "snug" in our small tent!

We drove up the river towards Camp Shiloh. The drive was absolutely breath-taking! Pictures don't even do it justice.

The area around the camp is mostly farmland. The camp is about 15 acres with many places nearby to take campers on wilderness trips. We got there on the last day of camp, everyone was so kind to us! We went out to lunch with the staff and were invited to stay the night. Mary and James (who are also looking at camps) met us there and we were given a tour of camp. Thank you to Camp Shiloh for your kindness, and hospitality!!!

The nearest big (and by big I mean a couple thousand people) town is McCall. It's a beautiful town on a lake, a lot like Lake Tahoe, only smaller. Boise is about 2 1/2hrs. away. While we were there we had to go to the airport---where the headquarters for the smoke jumpers just happens to be!! Danny went in to talk to the mechanic, and I got some pictures of some REALLY cool planes!

We're home!! We made it back safe and sound, thanks I'm sure to all of your prayers! Nothing really bad happened to our new car except a small crack from a rock on our windshield. We're so thankful for God's protection, we drove over 3,700 mi. and only the crack! So I'm going to break up the trip into chapters, because I have so many pic's to share, and so it's not one looong story. I'll try to get one done a day! Chapter One:

The Long Drive

We must be CRAZY!

Due to many unforeseen circumstances we left San Diego about two hours later than we wanted to on Wed. night. You see the plan was to leave S.D. by 6:30-7ish, get to St. George, Utah and camp there for the night. Well, due to our late start we got to St. George at about 5am! (We were switching drivers and even slept at a rest stop for a while once.) We still checked out the campground thinking we could sleep for 4hrs. then get on the road...we decided not to pay $12 to sleep 4hrs., plus there were no trees and once the sun came up it would be too hot to sleep. So we drove on!

About two years back Danny had an opportunity to move to the St. George area, Cedar City to be exact. All I can say is our drive through there made us thankful we didn't! Pictures can be

very deceiving, there's nothing like seeing a place first hand! Now I'm not saying it horrible, just very different from what we invinsioned.

So here are a few pic's from our first 231/2 hrs. of driving. Utah is known as the Beehive State. We never saw a beehive, nor a bee?! Come to find out it's the land flowing with milk and honey--Duhh. I guess we missed that one on the way through!

Finally we made it to Idaho. The southern part was mostly farm land. We drove by the Snake River which was beautiful. Once we drove out of Boise, up towards McCall--it's some of the prettiest land we've ever seen!!!

We began our weekend with 7 hour drive through L.A. --YUCK! We were late, but we made it for the most important part-dinner. Danny and Matt were in a wedding and tied up in rehearsals, and pictures and other wedding stuff so I got to spend much of my time with Kelly and Eli. As you can see he's a fun kid to be around, it's never dull at Matt and Kelly's! We stayed with Matt and Kelly for two days and in that time we went to a wedding saw many of our family members and traded in our Jeep for a Toyota 4Runner! It definitely was a whirlwind of a weekend!


Mostly we just had a good time hanging out with family and being entertained by Eli! When we get to Seattle, I'll get on the internet to show some pictures from out trip.

What do you get when you put eight 4,5 and 6th grade girls in one cabin, plus 4 days away from parents, plus a candy store, pool, chapel, night games, and a ton of other activities? A really exhausted cabin leader!

That is what I experienced last week. On the fourth of July I packed up my car, said goodbye to my husband, picked up Victoria (she the girl I nanny for) and pointed our compass north. Well not exctally north to begin with...but by July 5 we were at Forward Bible Camp ready for 4 days of camp!

Victoria and I had an awesome time. She memorized enough verses (14 to be exact) to tie for second place out of about 80 girls at camp! Yeah Victoria!! I got very little sleep between keeping up with 8 girls, helping to lead worship and running all over camp; but my cabin got 3rd place out of seven cabins. We even won cabin inspections one morning! Victoria's cabin beat us out for second place.

After camp we took some friends from camp and my mom and sister up to Lake Tahoe for the day. We swam, took the boats out and went for a hike at Eagle Falls in Emerald Bay. It was georgous, fun and exhausting! We got back to San Diego safely, with a few detours along the way!

Next month Danny and I are planning a trip to Idaho, Washington, Oregon and back down to San Diego. We'll be looking at some camps on our trip and a few air plane related jobs. We are also planning on seeing Grandpa and Grandma Webb, James and Mary Russell and a few more people along the way!
